Wild Susannah Summer Recommends: What Really Works?

I realise we’re midway through summer but I’ve done a little round up of a few of the products I’m using at the moment. Basically, I’ve done the research so you don’t have to. Plus, if I have a discount code you can use, I’ve put it below. Some of these I’ve mentioned on my insta feed but I know not everyone follows that and so thought it would be helpful to have them all in one place.

I’d love to hear any of your recommendations too if you have them….always on the look out for great new products.

Eres swimsuits

I’ve talked about my love of this French brand before, and yes, they are very expensive. They are the Chanel of swimsuits (literally - they’re owned by Chanel) and rightly have a cult following. It’s the cut that does it for me. As a woman with huge boobs, the straight neckline is so much more flattering than a V neckline. Plus it hides any crepey cleavage that might be hanging about. I buy one a year, in a different colour each time and consider it an investment. My swimsuit takes quite a beating, in and out of salt water all year long, so I want one that is still in good condition at the end of all that. I’ve looked for alternatives, but have not yet found one as good.

You can purchase Eres here.

Dreem Distillery Night drops

Not all CBD oil products are created equal and this one kicks insomnia to the kerb - but that comes at a price. There are many CBD products out there that don't contain enough of the stuff to really make a difference - you get what you pay for - and you only need the smallest amount of this one so look at it as a twice per year purchase if you’re using it consistently. Dreem Distillery Night drops uses an organic Broad Spectrum Hemp extract which means it has no nasty pesticide and lots of the lovely cannabinoids and terpenes that help you relax. It also has an added terpene blend that really supercharges the effect of the cannabinoids.

Now there is one more difference. If you have ever tried CBD oils before you will know that the taste of straight CBD oils is pretty shocking. Dreem Distillery Night drops have added peppermint oil to improve the taste.

If you are ready to give it a go, I have arranged a discount of 10% off using SUSANNAH10 via the Dreem Distillery website.

Potage

I love cooking so I was very reluctant about trying Potage. Bottom line, they’re frozen, ready made meals which ordinarily I would instinctively say no to.  In the end I thought I’d try them with a view to giving them to the kids while they were away at Uni. However, Potage blew me away. When it came to doing the video for them on my stream, all I had left was one sticky toffee pudding so I couldn’t even show you the ones we’d already ploughed through. They do some great puddings (cookies, brownies and aforementioned sticky toffee) but they also have loads of amazing main  meals too. I loved the chicken, leek and portobello mushroom pie and the fish pie too. They’re the sort of recipes you’d get passed down through families - a really great lasagne or risotto - but also lighter options such as cod or chicken laksa with rice noodles. If you’re vegan, there’s a few options on there too. It’s not a gigantic range - it’s more like they’ve concentrated on some great staples, and made them really well. It’s the kind of food you could pass off as your own if you’re feeling a bit lazy.

Each meal is loaded with veg and is cooked in small batches using local, ethically sourced ingredients. 95% of their packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable.

I’ve got a code SUS10 for £10 off your first order via the Potage website.

Institut Esthederme

Even though we weren’t sure we’d get away on holiday this year, the weather in the UK has been pretty patchy, but, when it’s been hot, it’s been Mediterranean hot. One of my all time favourites is Institut Esthederme - all my life I have suffered from heat rash and this is the only sun cream that hasn’t caused a reaction.  It’s not cheap but it’s perfect for me and can be purchased by clicking here.

Altruist

I have also found a great new brand called Altruist. They make medical grade sunscreen developed by a consultant dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon from Kent. Their products are also cheap as chips and a percentage of their profits benefit skin cancer charities for children with albinism in Africa, so this is one you just need to buy for a feel good dose of altruism.

The range includes invisible spray sunscreen and Sunscreen 50 SPF which is a sunscreen that feels like a moisturiser. It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave you with any sticky feeling afterwards. It’s broad spectrum so protects against UVA and UVB and if you are jetting off somewhere fabulous, rest assured it's coral friendly as well as being vegan and cruelty free. You can purchase Altruist here.

Medik8

The philosophy behind Medik8 is to provide hardworking anti aging skincare that’s natural and sustainable. The sustainability side of it is really interesting as they’re on a mission to be the most sustainable skincare brand by using recycled materials in their packaging and carefully sourcing ingredients to minimise the impact on the environment and making sure they’re not tested on animals.

The basis of their skin care routine is CSA - Vitamin C, Sunscreen and Vitamin A. Basically, vitamin C and sunscreen are used during the day and vitamin A at night. Vitamin C stimulates collagen and elastin. Sunscreen - at least SPF 30 - to protect against damage during the day and vitamin A - otherwise known as Retinol - to smooth fine lines at night. I’ve been using Tetra-C and Advanced Night Restore

Dr Jart+ Cryo Rubber Face Mask

This is the latest Korean beauty trend and like its predecessor the sheet mask, it’s something you do when no one else is at home (unless you’re into that kind of thing.) The mask itself looks and feels like rubber but is made from seaweed extract. It has a cooling effect to aid the absorption of the serum of which there are two in this set: Hyaluronic acid to deeply moisturise and allantoin to calm stressed out skin. You can purchase it here

Steeps

So, I know I’ve written about Steeps One Shot before but this stuff has been amazing for my digestion. Let’s just say everything is far more regular and generally ‘easier.’ I am more satisfied with my morning poo. There, I said it again. It helps me poo.

I have a discount code 15% off with my code SC15 via the Steeps website.

So, that’s it for now. Remember to let me know any of your own recommendations.

Fat kiss,

Susannah xx
